Garden evolution…

It’s good to have a document of how our garden has grown from the unkempt and overgrown blank canvas that we began with, to the oasis of colour, form and texture that we have made for ourselves.

I’ve posted many photos of The Mound, both here and on Diary of an Internet Nobody, but it’s a continually evolving part of the garden which started off like this…

image

…a dead tree stump, overgrown with bluebells, wild garlic and long, unidentified green things, along with a few stems of ash and hawthorn (from seeds of the trees which used to overhang the patio).

And in the last week or so, leading up to today and the glorious bank holiday sunshine, the garden now looks this…

Finally; it might not look exactly like this, but here was Audrey’s fairy garden, beneath the fiery red canopy of the pieris, after a little creative manipulation.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

Today’s smokin’ hot Cosmic Photo Challenge…

Diary of an Internet Nobody.

image

It’s a roasting hot bank holiday Monday, just for a change, so this week’s prompt for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge couldn’t be more appropriate.

K’lee set the prompt for today’s challenge and it was as follows;

”  ‘The Quest For Fire’. There it is. You can translate, create, or otherwise consider anything you want as it pertains to FIRE for this challenge…you can use barbecues, fireworks, or other sources of fire (responsibly!) in your um, ‘quest’ to enter this challenge. It’s completely up to you. “

I thought that, after last week’s close up experiment, I’d stay with small and modest and try to photograph the birth of a flame, so to speak.

There are a few attempts at capturing the point of ignition…

Audrey does Instagram…

If you go down in the woods today…

Diary of an Internet Nobody.

As I mentioned in my earlierPhoto Sans Frontiers post, Audrey has been getting into photography, so when we went for a woodland walk recently, she took Rhonda’s phone and Instagram’d the scenery for your viewing pleasure.

Here are her favourites.

She definitely has an artistic flair, no doubt about that and I’m sure Audrey will be contributing more photos to the blog in future posts.

A walk in Whiddon woods…

Audrey and I took a walk along the river, through the woods not far from where we live, to see what photo opportunities nature had to offer and to hone Audrey’s camera skills. I shall post the best of her Instagram pictures soon, but for now, here’s my contribution.

Wild garlic carpeted the floor of the woodland, the paths were dappled with sunshine, the river sparked attractively and somebody had even used art to give a tree some personality…

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

Here’s this week’s sparkly offering for the Cosmic Photo Challenge…

Diary of an Internet Nobody.

image

Hello and welcome to a new week, it’s time to get up close and personal for today’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

On Friday, I left you a prompt which asked for close ups of whatever you fancied shooting; whether that meant photographing miniscule insects, doing an intimate portrait study of your own face, or zooming into the microscopic world of cells and crystals, making tiny stuff bigger is essentially what we’re after here.

I chose to go with a couple of interesting rocks from Audrey’s selection of gemstones, fossils and geological curiosities that she has collected or been given over the last few years.
I thought I’d post both the full sized and close up versions of the two specimens, along with this first shot of the pair of them inside a 5″ frog mussel shell, to give you an idea of scale.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

I completely forgot to reblog last week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, so here it is.
(This week’s prompt is “close up”; pop over to Diary of an Internet Nobody and see how to get involved.)

Diary of an Internet Nobody.

img_20160318_210825-picsay.jpgIt’s Monday, which must mean that it’s time for cosmic photography.

This week, it was K’lee’s turn to pick the theme and he came up with this;

“FAST CARS

This could be any type of fast car your imagination brings to the surface of your consciousness – you decide, you create…for the ‘K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge’ “

Well, I drive a Nissan Micra, (not the sportiest of cars, although I love it) so I was never going to do a convincing job of crowbarring that into this post, but I thought of a way of suggesting how fast some cars were going, even if I was restricted to picking them at random as they drove past.

So here is my offering for today; I attempted (with varying degrees of success) to capture the traffic as it sped past the layby I was sitting in on the way home from working…

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

This week’s challenge heads for a bit of dappled shade…

Diary of an Internet Nobody.

For this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, the prompt was “Into the woods”, giving you a pretty broad theme of trees, woodlands, forests, leaves, anything arboreal in fact.

Audrey and I went out into the woods just behind our neighbourhood on Saturday and took a whole load of pictures (I shall be posting a selection of both Audrey’s and my own photos very soon) but today I thought I’d take a few of them and return to a more abstract style, by trying another collage.

I’ve called this one Woodland Cathedral, because it has the look of an enclosed yet illuminated space with a vaulted ceiling and there’s also a contemplative feeling about it.

See what you think…

To get involved with the challenge, post a photo to your blog, add a pingback to this post (or to K’lee’s) and don’t forget to tag your post #CosPhoChal.
