As I’ve just written on the “About” page, one of the reasons I’m starting this blog is to relieve me of the perceived obligation to provide some sort of narrative to go with my photographic posts, or the need for a definite theme or direction for each of my photo-blogs to follow.
Bearing that in mind, I’ll try not to be too verbose in this introductory post, but it only seems polite to address myself to my potential audience before we get down to business, so to speak.
I’ve been blogging for nearly three years, ranting and musing into the ether from my home in Devon, in the west country of England.
My original blog, Diary of an Internet Nobody is varied and eclectic, including writing, (a mix of opinion, social comment, humour, fiction and non-fiction rambling) photography, music, video and animation and anything else that catches my imagination.
But in the last few months I have also been hosting a photography group page on Facebook which shares the name Photo Sans Frontiers with this new project and features not just my work but that of many other talented and enthusiastic photographers that I have invited to contribute, a few of whom I have already showcased on Diary of an Internet Nobody.
(It may be worth mentioning at this point that all of the above was achieved using just my trusty smartphone, including all editing and post production effects, and that I am an unapologetic fan of the Instagram photo filtering app, so anybody with snippy opinions about creative photography for the masses should be aware that it’s not really worth asking me what camera or settings I’m using, because I haven’t got a clue.)
Since the photography posts have always proven popular with my readers, I thought it was about time I had somewhere I could post as much photographic content as I liked, without overloading my primary site, where I am trying to concentrate on more written content.
So although that blog will continue to run the regular Picture this… strand and occasional showcases from the Facebook page, any other new, extraneous, creative, obscure or experimental pictures, videos and animations and gifs, along with pretty much any photos I think are worth sharing, will be posted here.
So now you know where I’m coming from, it’s about time I showed you some photos, and with that in mind, here’s a selection of pictures that I’ve taken, edited and/or generally mucked about with over the last couple of years or so.
I hope you enjoy my view of the world…
